Do toddlers need snow boots?
When we were growing up the only kinds of boots available for kids were the red ones that went over the kids shoes. They were very difficult to get on and off and the parents in those days usually had to put plastic bags over the childrens’ feet to get the boots to slide on properly. We’ve come a long way from those days and now most parents buy snow boots for toddlers. It’s much easier than carrying them all over the place and they absolutely love them. Boots are not only bought for the snow but if you’re looking for toddlers snow boots then you won’t wan to get them the ones for the rain and their little feet can get cold.
What to look for in toddler snow boots
Toddler snow boots are much more insulated than the rain boots. Rain is usually in the warmer weather and there is no danger of toes getting frostbitten. There a few things you need to make sure when buying your toddler boots. the first thing is the height. You don’t want to buy boots that are too short because as they walk or play in the snow, the snow will go right into the boots. You also need to make sure that there are good soles on them which gives the boots traction. Insulation is also very important, especially near the toes so their toes stay warm in the snow. A really important thing to look for as well is a place to fill-in name/contact label inside, so that if they get lost, they can find their way back to your toddler.
What kind of closures should they have
That has a lot to do with personal preference. There are boots that fasten with zippers, others with lace up, some have buttons or velcro. Some boots don’t have any closure at all and they just slip on and off the feet. some snow boots have new pull handles which are perfect for those I-can-do-it-myselfers! Sometimes if you are buying cheap toddler snow boots then they are not made as well and it may be hard to get the boots on and off. It is a good idea to try to buy the boots around 2 sizes larger than the size shoe she wears. This will give your toddler lots of wiggle room for her or his toes.
